Jumping Together

So August 17th arrives and I am scheduled to go Canyoning for my first time down this river that flows through the center of the island.

Side note: Coffee and I live on this beautiful island that has about 365 rivers and we’re blessed because none of those rivers are filled with poisonous creatures or parasites they are as safe as can be.

So we saw a video that was shared in our hiking group on how the whole experience is going to be like and it looks pretty amazing to a life path 5 (adventurous lover like myself.) The morning comes and I meet up with Coffee and a few others in town and we await the bus that will take us to the training grounds before we commence this adventure. While waiting Coffee and I talk some more and I am glad he can actually keep a conversation. So previously via phone Coffee told me there was something he had to tell me. He brings me to a side away from the crowd and he looks sort of nervous and I’m trying not to freak out and I hope he is not going to tell me he has a girlfriend or some stupid shit that’s going to ruin this day for me.

He finally musters the strength to tell me he’s a virgin…Rewind..readers please note that I forgot to mention that during one of our conversations on the phone,I did ask the BIG question about his sexuality and wanted to know if he was really a virgin. He told me that he WASN’T and that he did not have much experience, I was shocked and told him about the rumors but he he said he wasn’t. I Was a little disappointed that he did not have the halo I thought he had,but he was a cool guy so I still wanted to get to know him.So NOW he proceeds to tell me he is an actual virgin. He quickly apologizes for lying to me,and mentioned one of the things I told him I look for in relationships is honesty and integrity, and in getting to know me better he could not keep it from me and had to tell me the truth as he didn’t want to ruin what we had. He told me of the last experience he had with a girl he was getting close to and how she stopped talking to him after she found out he was a virgin. He did not want to repeat the same experience with me as he said he was really getting to like me.

I didn’t know whether to be mad or understanding, but I chose to be understanding and told him to never lie to me again as I always have a way of finding out things.

While ironing out this awkward conversion a couple of tourists three girls exact come up to us and ask us if we’re going canyoning, we said yes and they tell us they are too. We exchange names and commence small talk, after we went back to meet the other people waiting. We continue to wait and Coffee pulls out his phone and suggest we take a selfie,he then thanks me for being understanding and he proceeds to go warm up for the activity by taking some stretches on the side using resistance bands, could this guy stand out even more I thought laughing at him in my head.

The bus arrives and we take off to the training grounds where a team of about eight guys suit us up with swim suits, life jackets and helmets. We then are trained on how to descend from the rocks using cable and hooks, and unto the rivers below, something I pick up quickly. I watch admiringly as Coffee takes his turn at learning the ropes literally. While watching him one of the girls that came up to us earlier joins me and makes small talk, she then asks if Coffee is my boyfriend,no we’re just close friends I replied. She then asks me to take a couple of photos of her and her two friends which I kindly do. I excuse myself to go eat a snack, Coffee joins me shortly after and I offer him a banana. So Coffee and I are talking and I happen to watch the girl I took the photos for and she has this upset look on her face, she steps out when she sees I noticed. I found it strange and wondered if she had the hots for me and was upset I was speaking to Coffee .I then whispered to Coffee what happened and he shakes his head and laughs.

After this we were driven to the river where the canyoning began, the most scariest day of my life, where I faced my fear of heights head on. We descended mountains of over 40 feet high and jumped into pools of over 20 feet. I literally felt my heart explode in my chest and my adrenaline hit the highest. All along Coffee kept cheering me on and motivating me along the way,he proved to be my biggest cheerleader and he did everything with such boldness that I admired his bravery. After I jumped into one of the pools Coffee told me how he was so proud of me and he held unto my hand I knew then that he was really into me and I had to had to make a decision.

After the canyoning was over we took more pictures together and as we sat eating watermelon and drinking hot cocoa our hearts was growing warm for each other.
